Cosmetic treatments for hair loss
Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) and microblading deliver excellent results for specific hair loss conditions. Both procedures maybe similar, but they create different effects and their uses are different.
In this post, we share with you the difference between the two procedures, so you can decide which one’s suitable for you.
What are micropigmentation and microblading?
Both scalp micropigmentation and microblading involve the application of pigment to the skin, which mimics the look of natural hair. The appearance of hair is created without the need for a surgical procedure. During an SMP procedure an electronic device is used with multiple 0.30mm needles, to transfer dots of pigment into the scalp, that replicate the look of natural hair follicles. The end result is that of close shave or buzz cut hairstyle.
However, in microblading a single blade is used to cut a fine line of ink into the skin. This stroke of pigment looks similar to a strand of hair.
Suitable candidates for scalp micropigmentation and microblading
Microblading is most suitable for creating the look of thicker eyebrows as in the eyebrows single strands of hair are visible and the procedure creates the greatest impact. Microblading creates the look of well- groomed thick eyebrows if done with great care and skill.
Scalp micropigmentation on the contrary has a much broader range of applications. For example, the procedure is ideal for men who have their heads completely shaved and want to create the look of a fuller head of hair.
Additionally, men or women with thinning hair can benefit from scalp micropigmentation as the tiny dot- like pigments conceal the difference between skin and hair, making the hair appear thicker.
SMP also helps to conceal surgical scars to create a fuller look after a hair transplant or camouflage hair loss if an individual is suffering from alopecia.
Which treatment is right for you?
We suggest it’s always better to meet a skilled specialist who can assess your condition and then provide the right guidance.
SMP is more suitable to create a look of fuller hair on the scalp and microblading is better suited to create a look of thicker eyebrows. Both are feasible techniques, so it depends on you and the results you want.
Whether it’s SMP or microblading, both require an individual to be well- trained in the field to be able to deliver natural results. The right pigment color needs to be chosen so it blends well with the person’s hair and skin color. So a combination of artistry and technical skill is essential to perform both procedures.
